Pacific Drive Guide: Essential Tips for Surviving the Exclusion Zone

Pacific Drive is an action game that blends a gripping sci-fi story with tense survival in the Exclusion Zone. The main character navigates a world filled with strange anomalies, and the trusty car by their side becomes the key to uncovering the zone’s mysteries. This guide covers every story mission and offers practical tips to help players progress with confidence.

Adjust the difficulty level

These tips are handy for most players. If the goal is to explore locations and advance the plot rather than grind for resources, follow these steps:

  • Open the menu Settings – Game
  • Reduce car damage
  • Modify player damage
  • Disable character death
  • Turn off penalties for failed missions
  • Enable infinite fuel
  • Disable radiation damage
  • Allow free car repairs after completing a mission

Note: Some options may prevent earning certain in-game achievements. If achievements are important, players should avoid enabling some settings.

These parameters can be changed on the fly during play.

Olympic Peninsula

When control passes to the player, the path forward is straightforward. Game-based learning will unfold gradually. Use the keys C to turn on windshield wipers and Z to activate headlights.

Upon reaching the large gate, turn left and traverse the rugged terrain. Anomalies will appear; ignore them and follow them until a cutscene begins.

Olympic exclusion zone

After losing the vehicle, follow the single path to the gap between the rocks marked by a yellow road sign on the right. Push aside bushes with F and inspect the old car.

The vehicle is missing a wheel. Look to the right of the garage for the spare wheel, pick it up, and attach it to the car.

Get back in the car, turn the key, and engage the gear. There are only two modes: drive and park.

How to refuel your car

Drive straight ahead. After a short distance the car runs out of fuel. A second vehicle nearby holds fuel you can siphon. Return to the trunk of the new car to retrieve it, then interact with the gas tank of the wrecked car to refuel yours.

Offee’s garage. How to reach the shelter

From this point a yellow veil appears along the route, signaling deviations. Try to move quickly, as the hero loses health during long detours. At the junction, turn right toward the large garage. It becomes a crucial base.

Inside, flip the switch on the wall next to the red light.

Search the nearest table in the next room, grab the backpack, and take it away.

To the right of the table where the backpack was picked up is a mechanical eye. This item allows scanning objects and switching between inventory items.

Repair the car

Start with the first aid kit on the wall at the back of the garage and drive the car inside. A flying wheel marker will appear. Pick it up and reinstall it on the vehicle. Gather raw materials to craft a makeshift door. Look for them in the garage to assemble the door and use it to smash open the trunk of a wrecked car on the street. The waste paper basket can be recycled to provide resources, and a trash can can act as an endless resource source.

Use these materials to construct a makeshift door, bumpers, and headlights at a stationary workbench.

Once the task updates, check the garage for repair paste and tools to fix individual machine parts. Replace a flat tire with a spare (found in the garage or made on a workbench) or craft sealants.

Scan a damaged wheel, locate a mechanic’s set, and apply it to the object. The task then updates.

Preparing for the zone

Place in the trunk improvised storage such as cardboard boxes, a workbench item like an artisan carpet, and a map on the passenger seat. The garage contains these items as well. It is wise to dismantle several cars and other items before the trip to secure missing doors, headlights, and bumpers.

Study the diagrams for gears and an impact hammer. They are needed to extract certain resources during outages. Don’t forget to refuel the vehicle and fill a canister in the trunk. Make one or obtain one from the garage spare wheel.

Charge the battery and use the map to plan the route. The garage door opens, signaling the first excursion.

Down the rabbit hole. How to break plasma generators

Upon arrival, scan the area for large glowing flasks that hold the tools needed to craft an antenna. To extract them, players must first craft an impact hammer.

If resources are short, inspect nearby buildings and craft two hammers as well as gears on the workbench. Assemble the tools, approach the flask, and use the hammer.

Destroy other flasks as well, many located near electrical anomalies. Watch the energy rise up the tower; when it peaks, it erupts in a certain direction. At that moment, run to the bottle and use the impact hammer.

Explore the location in any order, but collect at least five units of plasma. Numerous anomalies appear along the way. Tourists, for example, should not be touched or hit by a car, as contact causes damage.

Try to avoid kidnappers, large flying robots that attempt to seize the player at the first opportunity. They pose no threat while inside the car.

How to find a radio station

Consult the map and follow the marker to a hill where a radio tower sits. There you can obtain a radio transmitter. Do not enter the building; instead examine the right side of the structure to locate the electrical panel.

How to find an anchor

Three map markers will appear. Go to one and activate the glowing anchor sphere. Place the anchor on the passenger seat to select a destination and create a portal. Follow the marked path and aim the car toward the large light column. The mission will be completed.
