Appearance and functionality

The MSI Clutch GM51 lightweight wireless mouse continues the design language of the series. The body is built from matte black plastic with a non marking finish. The upper surface is smooth, and the color carries a subtle metallic sheen that makes the device look more premium.

On the sides a textured surface named MSI DiamondGrip provides a secure hold. Small backlight windows are visible here, and along with the logo on the shell they can be configured through the MSI Center app.

The same diamond motif repeats on the scroll wheel, reinforcing the design language.

The mouse is asymmetrical and suited for right-handed users. It features six buttons, five of which are programmable.

OMRON switches are rated for up to 60 million presses. The click feels satisfying and the overall sonority is quiet without creaks.

At the back there are Teflon feet with a unidirectional texture. There are also buttons for DPI switching and a wireless/wired toggle along with a complete power switch.

The GM51 can connect via Bluetooth wireless, USB wired, or a 2.4 GHz radio connection. The SWIFTSPEED tech promise is a stable link with low latency.

Charging can be done through a cable or with a docking station. The Snap Charging tech activates when a Type-C cable is connected to a USB 3.0 port, delivering a quick fill that can last a full workday with the backlight off.

Another charging option is a base that the mouse rests on magnetically. It’s stylish, though charging is a touch slower. The magnet is strong; lifting the mouse with one hand can briefly raise the dock.

The GM51 uses a 550 mAh battery and MSI promises up to 150 hours of continuous use with the backlight off.

MSI Agility GD72 Gleam Edition

Time to test the carpet as well. The MSI Agility GD72 Gleam Edition is a large gaming surface with a distinct color and material. It measures a substantial 900 mm by 400 mm by 3 mm, while a smaller variant, the GD22, is 320 mm by 220 mm by 3 mm.

The base is thermopolyurethane with glass added, a mix that feels different from fabric mats both to touch and under the mouse.

The surface has a reflective, chameleon-like quality. It’s eye catching but not distracting during play, and it doesn’t mirror like a true mirror when illuminated.

The materials provide a light cooling effect that outpaces traditional fabric rugs in this regard.

Moisture resistance is another perk. Spills can be blotted up with a cloth without soaking in. An extra microfiber cloth is included for cleaning and is best washed only with water to protect the top layer.

The carpet’s base is rubber, and the edges are neatly stitched, giving a premium finish that would suit serious gaming setups.

Software

MSI Center houses all mouse settings. Users can tailor profiles for different scenarios, adjust sensor sensitivity, tweak brightness, and pick among three zone backlight modes. Button actions can be reassigned and macros can be recorded. Three profiles can be stored in onboard memory.

Three MSI SPEEDSHIFT modes adjust cursor precision. These modes help extend battery life by choosing a setting aligned with daily use, competitive gaming, or precise micro-gestures.

Experience with use

Extended sessions in competitive shooters and longer campaign missions were conducted. The GM51 moves smoothly on any tested surface, while the Agility GD72 Gleam Edition mat changes the feel considerably. It feels almost frictionless, requiring a quick adjustment of sensitivity to get the ideal balance.

The sensor held steady even during sharp, rapid movements. The hand remains secure, and at a light 85-gram weight the mouse feels almost effortless in motion.

Results and prizes

The MSI Clutch GM51 Lightweight Wireless stands among top gaming mice on the market. It’s light, charges rapidly, looks great, and performs well in both wired and wireless modes. The sensor handles any task from fast shootouts to everyday work with ease.

Installation is clean: the mouse is quiet and precise, with no noticeable looseness or rattle.

Designer’s pick: the reflective surface material earns praise for its standout aesthetic and the way it personalizes a desk space.
