The Russian studio Soviet Games expanded its visual novel portfolio with Love, Money, Rock’n’Roll, a title that shifts the setting from a summer camp to a sunlit, bustling Japan. The central character is a likable yet conflicted student named Nikolai, cast as a typical Japanese schoolboy whose world begins to tilt when old ghosts surface and power plays intrude on everyday life.
With a fresh locale and a new cast of characters, the narrative drives home themes of trust, loyalty, and the price of wealth. Nikolai must navigate a shifting landscape where those in control often treat ordinary people as collateral. The story unfolds as he uncovers who he can truly rely on and why figures backed by money take a keen interest in his future.
— Description of the game on Steam
Visually, Love, Money, Rock’n’Roll marks a step forward from its predecessor, thanks to fully animated sprites and richer backgrounds. The development team crafted 120 illustrated plot scenes, and the script runs to about 430,000 words, giving players plenty to read and think about as the plot deepens.
As in Endless Summer, relationships form a core element of gameplay. Four potential partners shape Nikolai’s path and endings: a childhood friend named Himitsu, the former Katherine, the granddaughter of a prominent figure at Eli’s school, and Kagome’s class representative. The choices made and the bonds built with each heroine determine which ending the player reaches, creating multiple narrative outcomes and encouraging replay.
Currently, the game holds a Steam score around 79 percent based on 24 reviews. Fans have noted that the release took longer than initially expected, a delay that stretched from the original plan in 2016 as dates shifted over time.
Love, Money, Rock’n’Roll is priced at 600 rubles on Steam and is also available on Google Play and the App Store, broadening access for fans who prefer mobile platforms.
