Data cards are compact devices that unlock sections of the world map when used. They are positioned in specific places throughout the world.
Before hunting all data cards, players should assemble a jetpack. It is essential for scaling rocks and other ledges you will encounter on the islands.
Open the first section of the map in Rainbow Fields
Head to the western exit of the conservatories and follow the gorge. When you reach the large stone slime, veer to the left. A road runs under the rock and continues until the path ends in a dead end—the first device, labeled 1/8, awaits there.
Open the second section of the map in Rainbow Fields
From the previous spot, turn back and locate the ramp leading up the hill. Move along the improvised path to the peak. In the distance a rock you must climb becomes visible. The device sits behind small bushes and is marked 2/8.
Open the first section of the map in Ember Valley
Make your way to Cinder Valley, descend from the teleporter, and follow the route. When you spot a rightward elevator, hop on and ascend. At the top, a rock passage opens on the right and leads onward.
At the ascent’s end, a rock tunnel to the right contains a passage; take it and follow the road ahead.
Reach the cliff, leap down, and locate the shell image on the rock’s summit to confirm you are here.
To climb up, approach the geyser where slime bursts forth. Wait for the slime to recede and ride the water stream upward. This ride lands you at the device marked 3/8 directly.
Open the second section of the map in Ember Valley
From the prior location, use the jetpack to reach a nearby rock. Turn right and follow the corridor until a cave appears. Proceed to the cave’s end and ride the geyser to gain height.
The device sits here and is labeled 4/8.
Open the third section of the map in Ember Valley
Turn around to spot a rocky passage that marks the entry point. Jump from rock to rock, then descend toward the geysers and turn right there.
Travel along the riverbank, then bend left to skirt wild slime and lava. Navigate around them and reach the lone geyser that rises nearby.
Use it to ascend to the cliff’s summit on the right. The device is placed on a nearby hill and is numbered 5/8.
Open the first section of the map on the Star Coast
Teleport to Starlight Strand and scale the large rocks behind you. Stay to the left and head toward the edge of the cliff. Move onto the next rock and activate the device marked 6/8.
Open the second section of the map on the Star Coast
Turn around, locate the big blue stones, and use the jetpack to reach them and enter the portal. Follow the red grass path to the left, climb the rock, and explore the island deeper inside.
Between the trees with red leaves you will find a rock: the seventh device sits atop it (7/8).
Open the third section of the map on the Star Coast
Head to the location shown on the map above. The route through the rocks is not easy to describe precisely—move carefully and avoid falls. If you slip, restart from the teleport. A large stone gate appears along the route. Turn left and push toward a wide waterfall.
Just to the right of the waterfall rests a high ledge where the eighth device sits (8/8).
