In the game The Quarry you’ll meet unusual monsters that can infect counselors with a single bite. This guide explains how the infection can spread to all the story’s heroes.

How and why to infect heroes in The Quarry

There are three characters you won’t be able to infect during the run, because they become infected as part of the story itself. Laura, Max, and Nick are the ones exempt from manipulation in this way. If a player manages to infect every other hero, they can unlock a rare achievement called Blood Pact. The following sections outline the steps to achieve that objective while staying true to the game’s choices and consequences.

Infecting Abigail (Chapter 3)

Abigail can be infected only in this chapter due to the narrative setup. The player should follow Nick after the campfire and speak with the man by the fallen tree. If a monster attacks Nick, offer assistance, and when the shooting starts, move to safety.

When the game offers the choice to climb a tree or hide, select the hiding option. This moment triggers the Hold Your Breath event, and stopping the button input at the indicated moment allows the monster to strike Abigail. From that point onward, Abigail becomes infected.

Contaminating Emma (Chapter 4)

On the island in the middle of the lake, head toward the tree house and gather all evidence, making sure to interact with the bag first. When the attic hatch opens and a werewolf attacks Emma, use a shocking action and then take a photo of the creature.

Afterward, players should perform positive QTEs. When Emma encounters the monster again, use an aerosol to drive the creature away. Inside the house, barricade the door and climb to the attic. If the werewolf tries to grab Emma, fail the QTE sequence that would save her. This is sufficient to infect Emma.

Infecting Dylan (Chapter 5)

Chapter five places Dylan and Ryan in the radio room, working on an SOS signal. If players previously protected the cottage in the first chapter, it can be used to hide and avoid drawing the monster’s attention. As a werewolf reaches for the broken wire, Dylan’s fate hinges on a choice: as Ryan, players can either amputate Dylan’s arm or refuse. Choosing refuse leads to infection of Dylan.

How to Infect Jacob (Chapters 3 and 6)

In chapter three, when Jacob returns from the lake pier, he encounters a hunter named Billy. Politely ask the hunter to take you down. If Billy begins to bleed, use the moment to throw dirt. Skipping this step prevents later infection in Jacob, so timing matters.

Jacob and Emma later reunite while searching for their missing companion and meet another werewolf. If Emma falls into the water, rushing forward and failing a crucial QTE causes the creature to injure Jacob. When the hunter is trapped, choosing Open rather than Pull accelerates the infection’s spread through the body, leading to Jacob’s infection.

Infecting Ryan (Chapter 9)

To avoid killing Ryan too early, avoid pulling the knife from his chest in the preceding chapter. Successfully complete all QTEs and escape Billy. If he catches up, choose Stab with a Knife to weaken the foe, which helps the converted Chris gain the upper hand and secure Ryan’s downfall.

The female character may offer to infect Ryan. Accept the offer, and when the option to remove a hand appears, ignore it for the moment and continue with the infection chain.

Infecting Caitlin (Chapter 9)

In the same chapter, Dylan and Caitlin head to the junkyard to search for van parts. After reaching the charger and lowering the car, watch a brief scene. When Dylan notices the monster approaching Caitlin, do not lift the car to prevent her death. Instead, alert her to the danger by sounding the horn.

Once Caitlin gets into the car, lift the vehicle and select Run the Car. Caitlin will be jostled out of the car, and if players fail the QTE, she survives but becomes infected.
