Health plays a key role in Honkai: Star Rail because it decides who wins in battle. This guide explains all the practical ways to keep characters alive and shows how to restore health during fights.
Honkai Guides: Star Rail
While you roam the world of Honkai: Star Rail you will meet many foes and bosses. It is common to need to heal your team to keep moving the story forward. Surprisingly, there are only a few reliable methods to recover vitality, and in most cases healing happens outside combat, despite the turn based structure.
How to restore health in battle
The surest and often the only method to heal teammates during a fight is a dedicated healer. Healers like Natasha and Bailu can replenish vitality through their abilities and ultimates. These skills consume skill points, so players may need to perform basic attacks to recover resources and continue healing when needed.
Some heroes include special technicians capable of regenerating health outside combat. This makes it possible for a Pathfinder to access a similar trick from the start, such as Immortal Third Stroke. Trigger it before a battle to bring health back up.
In combat you cannot open the inventory to use consumables as in other titles. Bonuses from consumables are granted before the battle begins, so plan ahead and keep healing options ready for the next engagement.
For best balance, assemble at least one healer focused on abundance or a support hero specializing in preservation. They can restore vitality in time or provide shields to the team. Natasha and March 7th are good examples of this approach.
Spatial anchors
Dimensional anchors function like teleporters from other games, but here they also restore vitality. In Honkai: Star Rail they provide health recovery without requiring extra actions during a fight.
Access the Spatial Anchor menu and adjust the healing effect once. Enable the slider next to the item Restore HP to the specified value. From that moment on, every time you approach a spatial anchor, all squad members regain health.
There is no need to interact directly with the anchor every time. A simple setup keeps the team healthier as you travel and explore new locations.
Consumables
Another effective option is using consumables, especially food. Similar to other titles, you can prepare dishes or purchase them from different stalls. These items are best used outside of combat to replenish health between fights.
To cook a recovery dish, open the main menu and choose Synthesis. You will see available recipes that require synthesis materials to craft. Keep in mind that these meals are designed for post combat recovery, so plan your party’s stamina across battles.
Be sure to check merchants or kiosks where consumables are sold. Stocking up on meals and elixirs helps keep the party ready for longer adventures.
Random destructible items
During exploration you may come across destructible objects that occasionally restore some health to the team. These objects usually resemble green containers with unclear contents and can provide a modest boost when you break them.
These items are not very common, so rely on them sparingly as a supplementary source of healing rather than a core strategy.
As of now these are the main methods available to restore heroes’ health during and outside battles. The guide will be updated when new healing mechanics appear in the game.
