In V Rising, players assume the role of a powerful vampire who faces threats from almost every living creature. This guide outlines all the methods available to restore health within the game.

How to Heal Automatically

When not exposed to hostile environments like sunlight and not engaged in combat, health regenerates on its own. The tradeoff is the waiting period required for recovery.

If the need to disengage from battle arises, the quickest option is to retreat and shed the “In battle” status by concealing from enemies. The wolf form becomes available after absorbing the alpha wolfs blood, and the Blood Veil movement skill can be used from the start of the game. Activating this ability launches the vampire forward a short distance and renders them invisible for two seconds.

Healing with Abilities

One reliable method to regain health is the Blood Mend ability. It is accessible from the very beginning, so there is no heavy resource farming required. Activating this skill consumes blood, and players can open the shortcut menu with Ctrl to select healing.

Watch the red blood meter at the bottom of the screen. Blood-based healing and similar skills rely entirely on blood. Blood replenishment comes from feeding on living creatures or consuming items such as a heart or a rat.

Different blood types grant distinct buffs, and drinking a new victims blood can remove earlier benefits. The red liquid obtained from rats and hearts shifts blood type back to normal, so such items should be used with care.

During the restoration period, minor actions like attacking are unavailable, but this remains one of the speediest and most effective healing methods, particularly useful during boss encounters.

Healing Through Transformations

Progression unlocks additional skills as the vampire develops and bosses are defeated. One such skill is bear transformation. In animal form, movement is faster, and health regenerates automatically at a higher rate.

Healing with Consumables

The variety of consumables grows with advancement. Early on, healing often involves hearts and rats, which later become ingredients for more complex recipes.

Early in the game players learn Vermin Salve, a highly useful item that restores 2.5% of the maximum health every 1.5 seconds for 15 seconds. Opening the corresponding menu is done by pressing Tab. Note that the effect ends immediately if damage is taken.

Over time, the Alchemy Table becomes available, unlocking even more recipes. Accessing it is covered in a dedicated guide. Important buildings for the vampire’s castle unlock after defeating the relevant boss, such as Clive the Pyro. The table enables planning of consumables and safe storage within the game environment.

Garlic protection should not be neglected. An empty bottle crafted in the solarium can be filled with water, an item tied to the quest for Minor Garlic Resistance Brew. The brew grants garlic resistance for about 25 minutes, significantly boosting survivability during encounters.
