The Game Developers Conference, known as GDC, is a gathering where game creators share insights, deliver talks, and showcase their projects. While it primarily serves industry professionals, curious attendees from the general public also find plenty to explore. In 2025 the event runs from March 17 through March 21. This article highlights the most intriguing games and technologies announced at GDC 2025.
Zorah, technical demonstration of Nvidia
NVIDIA presented an AI powered technology demonstration that pushes Unreal Engine 5 toward near photo realistic graphics, immersive lighting, and deep shadows. The capability hinges on the flagship RTX 5090 graphics card. A collaboration between Nvidia and Microsoft in neural display was announced, and the DirectX 12 Agility SDK will integrate the RTX neural shadow package.
Since April, developers can access a specialized plugin that utilizes these technologies. However, the timeline for the first games to ship with such capabilities remains unclear.
Behind neural display of the future?
Cube 3D and other neural networks from Roblox
Roblox introduced Cube 3D, a tool designed to generate three dimensional models with the assistance of artificial intelligence. The source code is open, inviting developers to use, modify, and extend their projects.
Additionally, neural networks were announced that can generate and convert text into spoken dialogue. With feedback capable of decoding audio and deriving conversational rules, these tools make it faster to craft new games within the Roblox ecosystem.
Gamealfy, Neural Network for Game Development
Neural networks are employed to streamline game creation. The Gamealfy program serves as a practical tool for building models, textures, and other assets. AI helps maintain a consistent artistic style across all objects in a project.
Ayaneo Pocket S2 portable console
At GDC 2025 the Ayaneo Pocket S2 portable console was showcased. It runs on an Android based system, features a 6.3 inch IPS display with a 1440p resolution, and is powered by the robust Qualcomm Snapdragon G3 Gen 3 processor. A release date for sale has not been announced.
The Portable Console Onexsugar
This folding console features two screens similar to a Nintendo DS. Controllers can move and reposition as needed. The design is intriguing, though it is not yet clear how such a portable will be integrated into gameplay. A dedicated library is planned, but third party developers may be reluctant to support the concept.
How to Stroke Your Cat
How to Stroke Your Cat presents a game where players stroke a cat using a controller that resembles the soft back of a pet. The demonstration shows hand movements that require rapid, sweeping motions. In reality, a real cat will likely recoil or swat at the player. Still, the title offers an entertaining workout alternative for those who enjoy quirky challenges.
Hero’s Hand
The reveal of Hero’s Hand introduced a distinctive RPG feel where players fight enemies using a deck of playing cards. The aim is to assemble strong poker hands on the battlefield, such as a full house or royal flush, while enemies counter with blocking moves. Standard weapons and various items are part of the mix.
Aquatica Expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved
The Aquatica expansion for Ark: Survival Evolved drew attention online for a surprising reason. The trailer was generated entirely by a neural network, leaving many fans unsure whether it was official or fan made. After widespread posting on YouTube, the video was restricted to a private link, prompting curiosity about its authenticity.
Unlike other story arcs, the Aquatica expansion will not alter the core canon. It promises a fresh tale set in an underwater world, introducing 17 unique beings.
Updates are ongoing as new details emerge.
