Gaijin Entertainment has introduced the Danger Zone update for the online military action game War Thunder. The update brings fresh combat assets, including the U.S. F-14 Tomcat fighter and a diverse set of other equipment that expand the battlefield possibilities for players across North America and beyond.

In this release, players can pilot iconic hardware and test their skills against evolving threats. A notable addition is the Chinese ZTZ99A main battle tank, a modern evolution of the ZTZ99 series. It features anti-cumulative dynamic armor and composite armor protection, with a top road speed that can push toward 75 km/h on paved surfaces. This combination enhances both survivability and mobility in mixed terrain scenarios.

The update also broadens aerial and rotary-wing options. Israeli Air Force helicopters make an appearance, including the Hughes MD500 TOW light attack helicopter. It carries TOW and TOW-2 anti-tank missiles and Hydra-70 unguided rockets, adding versatile strike capability to combined arms missions. A Chinese counterpart, the Z-19E, developed by Harbin Aircraft Industry, entered service in 2017 and offers distinct air support and reconnaissance potential for players building layered air power within battles.

Beyond land and air assets, naval improvements arrive. The German battleship SMS Bayern is featured prominently, sporting eight 380 mm guns and significant armor protection. It stands as one of the most formidable surface ships available in the game, capable of delivering devastating blow-for-blow exchanges in coastal engagements and fleet battles alike.

On the ground vehicle front, the Italian 100/17 howitzer mounted on a Lancia 3Ro chassis is highlighted. This design traces its lineage to the Czech Škoda 10cm Vz.1914, showcasing a renewed emphasis on artillery mobility and battlefield support for ground operations. The update also introduces new propellant and shell options that refresh artillery playstyles and tactical decision-making during engagements.

In addition to armaments, the update expands battlefield logistics and support tools. New air-to-ground stores and container configurations bring more flexible supply options to commanders coordinating combined arms assaults. The overall effect is a richer, more varied combat environment that invites players to experiment with different armament loadouts and tactical roles across multiple theaters of operation.

The Danger Zone update reinforces War Thunder’s ongoing commitment to realism, variety, and strategic depth. Players will find new lineups, revised balance in vehicle performance, and expanded mission design that rewards versatile play. This release invites both veterans and newcomers to explore fresh combat possibilities, adapt to evolving threats, and craft effective doctrines for air, land, and sea operations. The changes reflect ongoing feedback from the player community and the developers’ aim to keep the game vibrant and competitive across platforms. — VG Times
