Developer Lance McDonald disclosed that he managed to run PT on the PlayStation 5. He did not hack the console itself; instead, he relied on another PS5 unit that had been modified. From there, he transferred the PlayStation 4 emulator to the console without jailbreaking, which enabled the game to run.

McDonald noted that he was able to launch the game on the PlayStation 5 exactly two years after Konami had stated it would be impossible. He also mentioned that a stream is planned in which he will demonstrate how everything functions. It should be emphasized that, for others to replicate this, the game must be present on their account.

PT serves as an interactive prologue to the canceled Silent Hills project. It was created by game designer Hideo Kojima and director Guillermo del Toro. Historically, this experience was officially available only on PS4, but it was later removed from the platform in 2015. A comparison of Dead Space remake gameplay to the original is often discussed in related conversations.
