The imagination of some modders convinced TeamKill Media to position Code Violet as a PlayStation 5 exclusive. In response to questions from players, the developers framed the choice as a reflection of creative control and community expectations.
Recently the teams behind Quantum error and Son and Bone announced a new dinosaur horror title called Code Violet. The project evokes memories of Capcom’s Dino Crisis and has been described by fans as its spiritual successor. The lead character is Violet Sinclair, who must untangle the secrets of a bioengineering complex while battling a host of creatures, including prehistoric lizards. The first trailer is shown below:
The catch is that the game will release exclusively on PS5, despite TeamKill Media having released titles on Steam in the past, including Son and Bone. A note from DSOGaming indicated that the trailer footage appears to be captured on PC.
Why isn’t Code Violet coming to PC? The developers explained the reasoning behind the decision.
The reason is that the team does not want mods that depict vulgar versions of the main character or others. They emphasize deep respect for the voice cast and the game’s artistic vision, and reject any attempt to sexualize the performers. Turning art into a joke and potentially tarnishing the performers’ reputations is not worth any financial gain.
Code Violet is slated for a July launch this year, and a page on the PlayStation Store already confirms its presence on the platform.
In fall 2024 a Dino Crisis clone built with Unreal Engine 5 emerged from a solo developer, followed by ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition arriving for mobile devices in December.
Industry watchers note the ongoing appetite for dinosaur horror across platforms, as publishers balance exclusivity with community feedback and mod policies.
With a trailer out and a release window in sight, fans await hands-on impressions as Code Violet heads to PS5.
