The online shooter Recruited on World War II has just received a substantial update named Burning Sky, bringing a wealth of new content and fresh gameplay experiences for players in North America and beyond.

The Burning Sky update introduces three new rocket tanks that shift battlefield dynamics in dramatic ways. The American M4 Sherman now deploys a 114mm rocket launcher, delivering devastating long range bursts that can break entrenched positions. On the eastern front, the German Panzerwerfer 42 is equipped with a defensive machine gun to deter infantry advances while still delivering its signature rocket salvos. Completing the trio is the BM-8-24, commonly known as Katyusha, whose volley of rockets can saturate targets and force enemy movements. In addition to these armored behemoths, a fresh slate of weapon models makes arms feel sharper and more responsive. Players will encounter the versatile АВС-36 and the iconic StG-44, along with reliable Mosin rifles M91/30 and Kar98k. The Mosquito FB attack aircraft receives improved handling and more authentic flight characteristics, while the mk. VI and Breda 88 (p. XI) join the arsenal, expanding the range of playstyles and tactical options available on the front lines.

The update also expands the game’s competitive modes with a new Showdown mode. In this mode, teams push to shift the front line, contest key objectives, and outmaneuver the other side through coordinated flanks and rapid rotations. The sense of urgency and strategic depth increases as players must manage resources, coordinate with teammates, and adapt to shifting terrain with every skirmish. Alongside Showdown, players will find new missions embedded across all campaigns, including memorable locales and historically inspired scenarios. Notable additions include a reconnoitering village called La Perelle in Normandy, a critical Railway Bridge operation near Berlin, and several other encounters that enrich the campaign experience with unique challenges and environmental storytelling.

Beyond new hardware and battlefield modes, Burning Sky introduces a robust mission editor that dramatically broadens creative possibilities. Players can transform any map into a customized battlefield by adjusting rules, defining spawn zones, placing capture points, and implementing victory conditions. This level of control invites experimentation, from small skirmishes to sprawling, multi-objective battles that feel tailored to the player’s imagination. Access to user-generated content is facilitated through the Mod Portal, where custom missions are curated and shared, encouraging a community-driven extension of the game’s life cycle.

Additional enhancements arrive in the form of dynamic weather and time settings. The skies can unleash raging thunderstorms that roll across open fields, blizzards that reduce visibility and dampen mobility, and even arid sandstorms that obscure sight lines and alter engine performance. Visuals receive careful attention with new rain effects, lightning bursts, and more convincing cloud formation technology, all contributing to a more immersive and believable wartime atmosphere. These atmospheric changes not only affect aesthetics but also influence tactics, as players adapt to changing light, wind, and weather-driven mechanics during engagements. An important note accompanies these transformations, signaling players to stay alert for evolving conditions that can tilt the balance of a battle in an instant.
