How you can get through the Quest “Barbos”

Barbos is one of the early side quests in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, inviting players to learn the world and the game’s systems. This guide outlines the path to completion, helping players finish it successfully and unlock all possible rewards. The journey starts after the hero leaves Treskovitsa, but a cautious approach is wise. Before diving in, it’s better to be properly equipped, since the quest demands a sequence of tasks and several fights with capable foes. Gear up, gather weapons, and then move forward with purpose.

On the map, head to the marked position and follow the trail across the lake to encounter a lone wanderer. He can be hostile at first, yet diplomatic dialogue might turn the situation peaceful. If conversation fails, a confrontation with the bandit awaits. In this case, combat becomes the only option to progress.

Ask a herbalist about the dog

A short distance away sits a house belonging to a herbalist who recently rejoined the main character after a skirmish with bandits. He should be approached to learn what happened to the dog. The herbalist does not have the dog in hand, but he provides a lead to someone who might know more. If the question is pushed about her misfortune, the optional quest Bad Blood may appear as a separate thread to pursue.

Ask for the dog in the tavern

After speaking with the herbalist, two additional tasks become available at once. It’s wise to skip the conversation with De Visser since he’s quite distant from the starting point. Instead, head north to a nearby outcrop to continue. The moment you report the dog’s loss to Korchmaru, he will request a visit to a shepherd who has been keeping an eye on a wolf herd. The dog could be linked to that herd, so the shepherd is worth a chat.

Ask a shepherd from Kopanina

The meadow’s shepherd is located far to the north of Relov, so a bit of walking is required. To save time, a rider can use a stolen horse. Upon arriving, talk to the shepherd to learn about the wolves causing trouble and the dog’s possible connection to the flock. The scene offers a blend of exploration and careful decision making as the story unfolds.

Advice: It helps to stock up on carrots, since they enable certain commands during the encounter with animals and followers in the quest line.

    Tame a pack of wolves

Agree to use a ram as bait and guide it to a birch tree on the slope. Place the root on the ground to keep the animals in place; otherwise the ram will wander after the protagonist. Then hide in nearby shrubs and wait for the wolves to arrive. Fight the mongrels to keep them from troubling the shepherd. Doing so may prevent further trouble and open new dialogue options.

Ask the Cracker where to look for the dog

The shepherd’s guidance may not yield immediate answers, but he will point toward a local lover. An icon appears on the map to the west of the meadow, guiding the player toward the proper location. After arriving, the player might not find the Cracker right away. Speak with the Cracker’s wife and then with his son. Skipping the second step may hide subsequent tasks on the map, while agreeing to help the wife of the Cracker can unlock the next phase of the quest.

Ask Cleep where to look for the lost dog

After helping Voislav retrieve the horse, head to his hut. Immediately after finishing the related errands, talking to him again may require waiting several in-game hours for the deal to mature before you can continue the conversation.

    Save the dog

With new information about the missing dog, a marker may appear in the southern portion of the map, marking the last known location. The dog can be found there, though danger awaits along the route in the form of robbers and wolves. Prepare for a longer journey and stay alert for threats as the path winds toward the destination.

You will reach the wolf hollow on a hill that sits between the forest and open land. Two routes lead to it; choose one. As you near the area, combat begins with wolves. If the player chooses to confront them, you may discover a small cave containing a scale or other rewards after the skirmish ends.
