Early rumors from insiders claimed that a remake or a re-release of the original Assassin’s Creed Mirage was in development. Those rumors later proved false, and Ubisoft directly denied any plans for such a project.
Marc-Alexis Coté, the producer of the series, told Axios that the information circulating about a Mirage remake was not accurate. Artistic Director Jean-Luc Sala reinforced Ubisoft’s stance, stating that there are no plans to recreate the game that launched the franchise. In Sala’s words:
I am fully immersed in Mirage, and we are not remaking Assassin’s Creed.
News coverage of the story noted that the original trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage had been released on August 10, and that Ubisoft had announced several new installments. The publisher revealed Codename Red, a title set in feudal Japan; Codename Hexe, set across a darker Europe; and Codename Jade, a mobile game taking players to ancient China. At the same time, Ubisoft also confirmed the release of the final downloadable content for Valhalla. The discussion around the company’s events even touched on reactions to other tech-related announcements, such as commentary about the iPhone 14 show.
In the broader context, the company’s communications around Mirage and its surrounding projects highlighted Ubisoft’s continuing strategy of expanding the Assassin’s Creed universe across multiple settings and formats, while remaining clear about which projects are under active development and which ones are not. These clarifications help fans understand the franchise’s roadmap and set expectations for future releases across console, PC, and mobile platforms. The emphasis remains on delivering high-quality narratives and immersive worlds that align with the series’ established lore, rather than pursuing a remake of the first game.
