A recent report notes that a monument dedicated to Vladimir Zhirinovsky appeared inside the Minecraft online universe, reported by Fontanka. The project features a bust crafted from blocks of stone and coal, with the politician sporting his recognizable hat.
Observers say the figure captures Vladimir Volfovich in a recognizable form, though the likeness is not exact. The accompanying video segment described the author as the sole person present on the server at the moment the monument was inspected.
Andrei Svintsov, a faction member of the LDPR and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, stated on Telegram that the party intends to stage an online demonstration near the Zhirinovsky monument on May 1. According to him, the 200-meter tribute in the game was erected on April 25, coinciding with the late politician’s birthday, who passed away the previous year.
The parliamentarian conceded that the sculpture does not closely resemble Zhirinovsky. Yet Svintsov expressed confidence that the creator would refine the portrait over time and improve its likeness. He spoke to socialbites.ca about using digital monuments and online demonstrations to bolster the Liberal Democratic Party’s activity across various online platforms.
He noted that the party’s online initiatives extend beyond the present moment, tracing back to the pandemic when similar events were conducted while people stayed home. The plan is to host a Minecraft gathering in test mode first and observe the audience’s response. He added that Minecraft is not the only platform the party plans to explore, with hints toward an eventual entry into the metaverse featuring prominent tech figures such as Mark Zuckerberg.
“The audience matters,” he said. “Not only teenagers and children participate; many adults engage as well.” Svintsov mentioned efforts to steer supporters toward the party’s own digital spaces, while acknowledging that many people feel more comfortable on platforms they already know. May 1 will be presented as a celebration of spring and labor simply as a way to spark conversation with participants already online. He reminded that Vladimir Volfovich Zhirinovsky’s birthday is April 25. He suggested that gifts or objections might appear as part of the online engagement and invited feedback from attendees.
He added that no age restrictions would apply to the Minecraft gathering and that signing up specifically for Minecraft would not be required for those already active on the server.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the enduring leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, passed away on April 6, 2022, at the age of 75 after spending the final weeks of his life hospitalized with COVID-19. He is interred at Novodevichy Cemetery.
A contributor from Taganrog, using the alias artemin01, released a Minecraft map in January 2023 that recreates a small realm featuring four interconnected blocks—roads, shops, playgrounds, and a row of one-story houses built in the 19th century. The creator aimed for a natural scale, inviting players to experience a typical Russian city in winter, from the inside out.
