Windows 10 KB5031356: Fix for 0x8007000d Update Error on 21H2 and 22H2

Microsoft confirms that a portion of Windows 10 users are running into error 0x8007000d when attempting to install the October security update KB5031356. The Windows update portal flags the issue as an Anti-Malware related problem.

The glitch targets Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 22H2. During the installation of the patch, users see error 0x8007000d which signals that the update data is corrupted or invalid.

Microsoft has received multiple reports about the KB5031356 installation failure. In the initial phase of the update process, the installation is halted as the device progresses, according to the company.

Users who encounter this problem are encouraged to report it through the feedback form within the Windows Feedback app. Microsoft notes that a fix is being developed and a solution will be released soon.

Windows 10 remains the most widely adopted version of Microsoft’s operating system, even after Windows 11 arrived in October 2021. Steam data from September indicates that 57.9 percent of players run Windows 10 on their PCs.

Earlier, Microsoft also positioned Xbox as a platform that serves as an entry point for casual or new gamers.
