WhatsApp users will soon see a pinning feature that lets messages stay at the top of chats for a set period. The option appears to be coming in a future update based on reports from WABetaInfo and the testing notes seen in the Android beta build.

In the beta version identified as 2.23.13.11, developers introduced a mechanism that allows chat admins to pin a message so everyone in the conversation can quickly access essential information. The pinned message can be kept for specific durations: one day, seven days, or thirty days. Once the chosen time elapses, the post automatically unpins. Admins also retain the ability to unpin the message at any moment before the timer expires.

At this stage the temporary pin feature is still under development and has not rolled out widely. The WhatsApp team will keep users posted about when the feature will be available to a broader audience and how it will behave in diverse chat types.

Earlier reports touched on privacy concerns surrounding WhatsApp and microphone access. Some observers interpreted these reports as suggesting that the microphone could be used to surveil users. The discussion highlighted the importance of transparent app permissions and trustworthy data practices in messaging apps.
