VK Play Hosts Russia’s Bumagogoria Papergoria Game Contest

A competition organized by VK Play and the Bumagogoria Telegram channel invited Russian developers to craft a game centered on the fictional paper city Bumagogorsk. The event was announced through the company’s press service and reported by socialbites.ca.

The prize pool stands at 100,000 rubles. Beyond the cash award, the winning team will gain a chance to secure investments to finish the project for publication quality with the goal of listing the game in the VK Play catalog. A panel including VK Play professionals who built the paper city Bumagogorsk and Matvey, an 11-year-old creator from Nizhny Novgorod, will review submissions and select the winner.

The competition welcomes both browser-based titles and client PC games, as well as mobile applications. A key requirement is that the visual style of the submission reflects Papergoria, the distinctive universe associated with Bumagogoria.

Papergoria refers to the Telegram channel managed by Matvey, who imagines a paper city. On July 11, this channel joined the Bumagogoria News blog, where Matvey shared images of paper buses and structures, including a Dragonfly shopping center with M.Video, the Svetofor stores, and even H M as it exits Russia.

Matvey has noted broad interest from major Russian companies in Bumagogoria’s unexpected popularity. For instance, socialbites.ca, Yandex, Mosgortrans, and several other organizations have paid attention to the phenomenon. More than 20,000 users have subscribed to Matvey’s Papergoria channel, underscoring a robust community around the concept.

The contest steps beyond a single platform, inviting developers to translate the Papergoria aesthetic into engaging gameplay. As the project gains traction in media conversations and among enterprises, participants should expect a dynamic, community-driven process that bridges creative design with practical publishing considerations within VK Play’s ecosystem. The interaction between a young content creator and established tech brands exemplifies a collaborative model where storytelling, art direction, and interactive design converge to produce a unique gaming experience.
