Vampire Survivors, the popular indie title, continues to receive free updates that expand its content. The upcoming feature from developer Poncle is named “story mode adventures,” introducing a parallel mission structure that augments the traditional gameplay. The patch associated with these quests bears the internal label v1.8.0 and is nicknamed the Deeplorable Update. While the exact release date hasn’t been announced, the update is slated to go live worldwide within a few weeks on all platforms where the game is available, including PC (Steam), Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.

Vampire Story Mode

According to Poncle, the new Adventures format will present autonomous, bite-sized story sections that function as secondary missions. Each adventure will offer a distinct progression path with a limited roster of characters and items. In practical terms, every story chapter will be structured with its own setup—specific items, a defined cast, and clear victory conditions such as surviving a set duration or defeating a target number of foes.

Progress in the main game will not carry over to Adventures, which are designed to be a reset with fresh challenges. The only continuity retained from the base game will be Ruins and other modes like Hyper and Inverse, ensuring players can still experiment with familiar mechanics in a new context.

Before the new stages unlock, players will need to obtain the relic to activate the Atlas Gate in the classic format. Poncle explains that missions will be organized into clearly defined segments, sometimes accompanied by add-ons to the core game. Local co-op will be available in this version, but new achievements tied to the missions should not be expected. The update itself remains free, though certain missions may be rolled in as expansions of content previously offered through paid packages, such as Legacy of Lunar Magic.

Four Vampire Hunters

Vampire Survivors currently supports up to four players on PC and Xbox, and this mode is also bundled with the Nintendo Switch edition. Persistent server maintenance issues and high latency have limited the online experience, preventing the multiplayer feature from delivering on its early promise. Luca Galante, the game’s creator, has acknowledged interest in online play but cautions that no firm commitments can be made at this stage, given the scale of such an enhancement. He notes that the team is exploring a robust online co-op option, while emphasizing that it’s still under consideration and not guaranteed to arrive soon.
