The enhanced edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, developed by the Polish studio CD Projekt RED, was not accessible to Russian players on Sony’s PlayStation 5. A Telegram channel named Yeti drew attention to this situation. The information circulating indicates that the free next generation update could not be claimed by all Russian accounts in the PlayStation Store digital storefront. Meanwhile, the same version appeared in the Turkish PlayStation Store with Russian language support, and the upgraded release labeled as the Full Version was priced at 131.40 lira. Owners of the disc version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could obtain the update for free by using any foreign account, but the Russian account could not grant access to the update. The remaster dropped on the night of December 14, and Russian users reported on social platforms that the update installed successfully when accessed from foreign accounts, with Russian localization then appearing in the game. In early March, CD Projekt, the parent company of CD Projekt RED, halted sales of its games in Russia, while continuing to run its social media channels. An employee from the Russian press desk remained employed by the Polish company. Earlier reports claimed that PC players using Steam also faced hurdles in purchasing the game or accessing the Next-gen version, with some users expressing disappointment over the optimization of the update.
