If you haven’t heard about it yet, there’s a fresh addition to The Walking Dead universe that fans are buzzing about. A new video game experience is now live on Facebook Gaming, called The Walking Dead: Last Mile. It’s free to play directly in the browser, with no downloads or installations required. The format is innovative and the story is unfolding in real time, catching on with players who want to influence the outcome as a community.

Created by Genvid in partnership with Skybound Entertainment, The Walking Dead: Last Mile places each decision in the hands of the players. A sequence of interactive live streams is hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown and Felicia Day, revealing a fresh chapter each day and inviting the audience to guide key choices that shape the TWD universe. As Skybound Entertainment president and series creator Robert Kirkman notes, Last Mile represents a bold expansion for the franchise. Throughout the narrative, characters face tough choices with serious consequences, and fans together determine how the story progresses and who survives, ultimately steering their futures in the series.

The Walking Dead: Last Mile – Launch Trailer

First live entertainment experience on Facebook

The journey began last July with an opening act where audiences helped shape the story and decide the fate of the survivors. The adventure comprises three acts, each lasting four weeks. A major storyline within The Walking Dead universe will be presented back to back through mid November. Instant Play gives ongoing access to the world and its inhabitants, letting players craft their own survivors, earn influence points through mini games and events, and then spend those points to influence important decisions and the overall direction of the story.

The second act began this week, and it already feels like the dynamic between the Factory and the Village has grown tenser. At the Factory, a lethal invisible gas disrupts operations, while in the Village Marlena’s suffering and Remi’s cynical mood seed suspicion. Abe tries to bring the two groups together with a potlatch, but the plan does not go as hoped. Villagers are now grappling with a mysterious illness, and key plant workers have been kidnapped.

As winter settles over Prosper Landing, both groups face escalating danger as the season ends and a freeze-thawed swarm of walkers emerges from the bay. In town, Doc works toward a cure for the unknown disease, Remi endures a setback, and a thief threatens the community’s health and safety. At the factory, Tara leads the mission to rescue the kidnapped workers while keeping morale up amid exhaustion. Hunger, disease, and death threaten the town of Glacier Point and its chances for repair.

News and reviews

Early feedback suggests The Walking Dead: Last Mile has received a series of improvements and new features for this Act Two. A Survival mode invites players to chase additional rewards, with the constant reminder of risk. Naturally, higher risk means higher potential rewards. In addition, two new mini games have arrived, Weapon Classification and Weapon Crafting. A new bidding system has also opened, letting players see how their Influence bids sway the course of the story. Finally, a timeline feature has been added to show, in real time, how the choices players make reshape the narrative throughout the Massively Interactive Live Event. A related video game trailer explains these elements in a clear, engaging way.
