Tele2 has begun informing its customers about higher service charges effective January 2, 2024, a development reported by Vedomosti. According to sources, the price increase will range from 60 to 70 rubles, representing about 10 percent or more of the current tariff. The changes are expected to impact at least the Online Everywhere plan, which at the time of reporting cost around 560 rubles per month and included 80 GB of data, 1,000 minutes of calls, and 100 SMS.

Tele2 confirmed that some subscribers received messages about rising communication prices, adding that the adjustments will apply to archived tariffs only. The company explained that price reviews typically occur no more than once annually as a way to align costs with fair market levels, noting that the amount of the revision varies by plan, but that the new offers remain profitable for the provider.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) told Vedomosti that it has already reviewed public objections to the upcoming price hike. If infringements are identified, the ministry said it would take the necessary measures.

In related industry news, refurbished smartphones have been gaining unprecedented popularity in Russia, a trend that could influence consumer choices and market dynamics during this period of tariff adjustments.
