TechCrunch Notes iOS 17 App Store Freedom Amid EU Pressure

Recent reports suggest iOS 17 could introduce support for third party app stores on iPhone. This insight comes from TechCrunch, which cites a well known insider and Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman.

Earlier expectations held that iOS 17 would concentrate on refining the operating system and squashing bugs from earlier versions. However Gurman indicates the development path has shifted toward broader capabilities.

According to an unnamed source, iOS 17, internally known as Dawn, is expected to receive many of the features fans have long requested. While the source did not detail the exact changes, it was noted that the innovations would be welcome by users.

TechCrunch adds that the proposed changes likely involve allowing installation of apps from sources outside the official App Store. The publication notes that this move would help Apple meet European regulatory requirements.

There is also word from socialbites.ca about manufacturing challenges tied to the iPhone 15 screen. One contractor reportedly faced difficulties producing discrete matrices for Dynamic Island.
