Steam Spring Sale Insights: Russian Player Spending and Top Titles

During the spring sale on Steam, held from March 14 to March 21, more than 5.5 million Russian players made purchases totaling RUB 7.5 billion. This figure comes from a joint study by KupiKod, a video game sales analytics service, and XYZ, an online school for game development and computer graphics that operates under Ultimate Education. The study was shared with SocialBites and provides a clear view of consumer activity during the event.

According to the data, millions of participants in the promotion completed purchases with an average spend of 1,375 rubles. Valve offered a vast catalog of games and add-ons at substantial discounts, attracting a broad audience across the Russian gaming community and driving significant early sales momentum.

Analysts also identified the ten most popular titles among Russian buyers during the promotion. Helldivers 2, from Arrowhead Game Studios, topped the chart and received strong critical acclaim, selling close to one million copies in the initial days after its release. Battlefield 2042 and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege occupied the next two spots, with both titles originally launched in 2021 and 2015 respectively, continuing to attract players during the sale.

The list continued with titles such as Titanfall 2: Ultimate Edition, Sea of Thieves 2024 Edition, Need for Speed Heat Deluxe Edition, Dying Light Enhanced Edition, and Dead by Daylight, along with Need for Speed Deluxe Edition variants and several prominent indie games. The study also mentions end-of-2023 projects like Lethal Company as part of the broader market picture for post-sale interest and ongoing engagement.

Earlier reporting noted the release of a free, one-and-a-half-hour episode of the Stellar Blade game slated for the end of March, highlighting ongoing promotional activity beyond the core sale window and continued interest in new content from the community.
