The State Duma is revisiting the debate over restricting remote work for certain IT specialists who left Russia after the start of the special military operation. This development was reported by Interfax.
The proposed prohibited roles include professionals involved in the management of government information systems, critical information infrastructure facilities, and the handling of personal data within companies.
Recommendations from the Ministry of Digital Development in coordination with the State Duma call for limiting remote work for IT experts who participate in the development, deployment, and oversight of state information systems, critical infrastructure facilities, and personal data processing operations.
Andrey Isaev, a deputy head of the United Russia faction in the Duma, noted that a bill to ban remote work from abroad in certain sectors could be submitted to the Duma at the start of the next session. (Interfax, quoted from deputies’ remarks)
Meanwhile, Kommersant reported that the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media has crafted an incentive package aimed at IT professionals returning to the country, including considerations for military service and reimbursement of return travel costs. (Kommersant)
