Smartphones can suffer when exposed to extreme heat. A leading analyst from Mobile Research Group, Eldar Murtazin of Moscow 24, warned that hot conditions place extra stress on devices.

Extreme temperatures are not friendly to smartphones, much like they aren’t kind to people. In heat, a phone can become warmer and its battery may drain faster. Colder conditions also speed up discharge. High humidity adds another risk: over time it can damage electronics. The expert emphasized that heat and humidity can wear down components and shorten the device’s life.

He also advised against cleaning the screen and connectors with alcohol or disinfectants. Such liquids can flood membranes and microphones and may cause oxidation of the connectors. Murtazin recommended using a UV-based disinfectant as a safer alternative for sanitizing purposes.

Vladimir Ulyanov, head of the Zecurion analytics center, added that installing a large number of applications can strain a smartphone. He explained that many apps use resources in the background, even when not actively used. This drains the battery and occupies memory, potentially slowing the device and affecting its overall performance.

In late January, the Office of Rospotrebnadzor in Saint Petersburg reported that a significant portion of mobile phones showed high levels of bacterial contamination. The survey found that a variety of bacterial strains, including certain staphylococcus species, were commonly present on phone surfaces and on computer keyboards. This raised concerns about everyday hygiene and the potential for bacteria to transfer between devices and users.

Earlier reports indicated that many Russians were willing to continue using a damaged device rather than be without it, underscoring the behavioral aspect of how people balance functionality against reliability in daily life.
