Shelby County Police Arrest Blogger in Starfield-Related Theft Case
In Shelby County, authorities have taken blogger Darin Tyrone Harris into custody. Harris has a track record of sharing his thoughts and posting videos about video games, including a clip that shows a crossover of the unreleased Starfield game under the aliases DHavenShadow and Rebs Gaming. This development comes from a report published by Kotaku’s Edition.
On August 24, law enforcement detained a 29-year-old man. He faces multiple charges, including theft of property valued in the range of 2,500 to 10,000 dollars, theft of property valued at 1,000 dollars or less, and possession of marijuana.
Harris gained attention for a 40-minute annotated Starfield video released on August 20. In that and subsequent uploads, the blogger demonstrates ownership of several copies of the collector’s edition as well as a large collection of discs tied to the game. Investigators believe these materials were stolen from a retail warehouse, casting a shadow over Harris’s online activities.
Evidence suggests that Harris marketed the discs before Starfield’s official launch, using the Mercari marketplace to sell the items. Shipping details seen in his posts point to FedEx as the carrier used for deliveries of the purchased goods.
According to PC Gamer, Harris is currently released on a bail amount of 10,000 dollars, with a hearing scheduled for August 28. The case continues to unfold as authorities review the seized items and gather additional testimony.
Starfield, the highly anticipated title, was planned for broad release around late summer. The game is described as available for PC and Xbox consoles, with players eager to explore its new worlds and features. The media attention surrounding the case has intersected with fan anticipation for the game, highlighting the ongoing relationship between digital leaks, physical media distribution, and legal boundaries in gaming culture.
In related industry news, a former developer of STALKER 2 commented on Starfield, noting that the new project bears little resemblance to previous titles in the franchise. The remark underscores how game development often evolves in unexpected directions, producing experiences that diverge from early expectations.
