On the evening of April 10, a disturbance at Sheremetyevo Airport drew attention when a Moscow resident was denied boarding after an attempt to pass through security with a laptop that would not open. Airport officials explained to socialbites.ca that the passenger reacted aggressively during the screening process, but ultimately he left the device in the car and continued on his way after the scan was completed.

Earlier, on March 31, a clash occurred between a passenger named Timofey Shulgin and security personnel in the B Terminal parking area during the security check. Shulgin refused to open his laptop to demonstrate its contents, asserting that he did not know how to operate the device. He also requested to present an engineer’s certificate, arguing that only an engineer could supervise the type of equipment in use for a costly system. The airport’s statement noted that Shulgin spoke provocatively to the inspector, escalating the situation, while the inspector remained calm and courteous throughout the encounter.

Shulgin claimed the laptop belonged to his son and that he did not know the password. As the situation unfolded, the inspector called in the shift supervisor and the Rapid Response Team for assistance, and a police officer arrived to help resolve the matter. The passenger persisted in his stance, insisting that he was correct and refusing to cooperate with airport staff, which prolonged the incident.

Following consultations with security authorities and law enforcement, Shulgin agreed to have the laptop reopened for a recheck. The inspection involved an X-ray television introscope and a hands-on examination, neither of which uncovered any issues. After the recheck, the passenger left the screening area with his belongings, placing the laptop and bag in his car, and proceeded to pass through security again without incident. This sequence underscored the importance of clear authentication procedures and the need for calm communication during security processes at major hubs.

In related reports, it was noted that at another international airport, Domodedovo, customs officers previously confiscated an elite watch valued at six million rubles, illustrating ongoing tensions around high-value items and the handling of complex security protocols at busy gateways.
