In 2024, buyers in Russia leaned toward laptops that offer 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Screen sizes most favored ranged between 15 and 16 inches. This trend was reported by socialbites.ca, drawing on a market study conducted by AliExpress CIS researchers.

The market analysis focused on the ten models that topped the popularity charts, based on AliExpress sales figures gathered from March through May 2024. The goal was to capture a clear snapshot of consumer preferences during that period, highlighting which configurations and brands resonated most with shoppers across the region.

Leading the ranking was the Honor MagicBook X16 Pro. This model features a 16-inch display, a quad-core Intel Core i5-13420H processor, 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of solid state storage, and a 65 W power adapter. Close behind it in second place sits the Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 16 2024. It stands out with a 16-inch IPS panel capable of a high refresh rate up to 165 Hz, an Intel Core Ultra 5 125H processor, a generous 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of permanent storage. Completing the top three is the Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 15 2023, which distinguishes itself with a slightly smaller 15-inch screen and the option of either an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor or 512 GB of storage, depending on the exact configuration.

The list of popular laptops also included several other notable models: the Machenike Light 16 Pro, the CHUWI GemiBook PLUS, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14+ 2023, the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pro 1, the Xiaomi RedmiBook 16, the Xiaomi RedmiBook 15E, and the Xiaomi RedmiBook 14. Each of these devices contributed to a broader picture of what Russian consumers were prioritizing, from processing power and memory capacity to display quality and overall value for money.

Earlier, consumers in Russia had access to several domestic options that gained traction in different pockets of the market. One such model, Inferit, found a niche among buyers seeking a mix of performance and price, illustrating how regional preferences can shape the availability and popularity of specific brands and models over time. The overall takeaway from the AliExpress CIS study is that demand in 2024 favored devices that combine ample RAM, substantial internal storage, and screens large enough to support modern multitasking and media consumption without compromising portability. This emphasis on balanced specifications reflects a broader shift toward versatile laptops that can handle both work and casual use across the home, office, and on the go. Such trends also underscore how manufacturers and retailers adapt their offerings to meet evolving consumer expectations, including power efficiency, thermal management, and the ability to scale memory and storage when needed.
