Prototype for editing documents with generative models debuts at AI Journey
At the AI Journey conference, vice president Denis Filippov unveiled a prototype interface for document editing with generative models and a beta feature that allows PDF uploads into the GigaChat dialogue for later work. The project is named Salyut, aimed at enhancing digital surfaces for Sberbank.
The web-based editor integrates access to leading models and technologies for text editing. It connects the GigaChat service with the Kandinsky neural network and the SAGE spelling correction AI. The result is a versatile tool for drafting text, generating ideas and structure, enriching publications with images, and tailoring content to different audiences while correcting spelling and punctuation.
GigaChat will also support downloading and working with PDF files. This enables users to summarize major financial reports, extract key ideas, or generate questions about the material. The ability to describe complex documents and extract actionable insights will be valuable for analysts, executives, and researchers alike.
Filippov explained that the basic interactive interfaces of these services have yet to be widely adapted for document editing. He noted that ongoing research and experiments in interface design are being carried out by major companies, including Sber, to explore how people interact with AI editing tools more naturally.
The executive highlighted how large language models can simplify information retrieval, brainstorm ideas, plan and structure documents, automatically generate visuals, and produce documents tailored to specific objectives. The models can also offer stylistic guidance, ensure accurate spelling, and consider context to improve overall readability and coherence.
According to Filippov, all of these capabilities will soon be accessible to GigaChat users. He added that the initial phase will allow testing the new features within the web version of the service, providing a practical and accessible entry point for users in Canada and the United States who are exploring AI-assisted document workflows.
AI Journey, Sber’s eighth international conference, began on November 22 and runs through November 24, drawing attention to advances in artificial intelligence and its application across sectors. The event underscores a growing trend toward integrating AI features directly into everyday productivity tools, enabling professionals to tackle complex writing, planning, and content creation tasks with greater efficiency.
