A Chinese industry source named Zhang shared details about the next generation AMD UDNA architecture and outlined multiple PlayStation 6 specifications. The outlet presents these claims without mentioning a video card.
The source states that PlayStation 6 will house an AMD processor that supports 3D V-Cache technology, a feature designed to boost performance in games that rely heavily on the CPU cache. Tech site Videocardz has noted that this technology has demonstrated clear gains in gaming performance, particularly in cache-sensitive workloads.
Zhang added that Microsoft has not yet finalized the hardware lineup for the next generation of Xbox consoles. For context, the current generation relies on AMD silicon to deliver most of the performance for Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
Industry chatter places PlayStation 6’s unveiling no sooner than 2027 or 2028. By comparison, the PlayStation 5 launched in late 2020, and in 2024 Sony released the PlayStation 5 Pro, which features a more powerful graphics chip, improved ray tracing, and increased memory. The console faced critique for its $699 price tag and the absence of a built-in disk drive and stand.
Earlier tips from Zhang suggest Nintendo Switch 2 could carry a price near double the original model, a factor that would influence purchasing decisions across North America.
