Pavel Lebedev’s AI Experiment: Journalists, Content, and the Future of Media

Pavel Lebedev, a Moscow entrepreneur and author of neural network training programs, announced an experiment with artificial intelligence. He spent a week handling requests from journalists seeking expert insights for their material on Pressfeed’s neural network and sharing comments across a range of topics. Reports indicate that the texts containing his commentary appeared on the websites of Izvestia, Komsomolskaya Pravda, Arguments and Facts, and several other media outlets.

“I produced high-quality content at journalists’ requests, and everything was delivered on schedule. Some reporters accepted the material, and there were quite a few. For instance, I wondered whether a 15-year-old student could achieve global recognition by engaging the media using the same algorithm and delivering the results journalists wanted from the neural network. The experiment was conducted, and the outcome was achieved. A student can become a world-renowned expert in any field without fully understanding it. I did not reveal to reporters that the content was generated by a neural network because I had seen a precedent where such a disclosure might have a negative effect. On the contrary, I followed a principle of maximum safety and comfort for all participants.”

Lebedev expressed a desire to obtain feedback from journalists and said he was prepared to face criticism.

“In truth, I value feedback from journalists because it comes from their unique perspective. I would welcome continued contact and a roundtable discussion on this topic. I am open to dialogue. It may be risky, but I am proceeding cautiously. I explained my reasons and stand by them. Perhaps it will trigger a negative reaction.”

The entrepreneur added that he plans further experiments using neural networks. He believes this will lead to a qualitative breakthrough in content production and could reshape the creative field’s workflow.

Under Lebedev’s alias, an Izvestia writer described methods to improve home maintenance. Similarly, Lebedev’s commentary appeared in Komsomolskaya Pravda, where he acted as a designer and offered guidance on material selection, including plaster for walls and fastening products. In an Arguments and Facts feature, Lebedev was presented as a real estate expert with two decades of experience, offering readers advice on choosing properties.
