Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel plans to travel to Silicon Valley in California, United States, on September 18 to meet billionaire Elon Musk and discuss concerns about rising anti-Semitic sentiment on the social platform X. This plan is reported by The Washington Post, which notes the growing scrutiny of Musk over content and moderation on the site.
The Washington Post states that American human rights organizations have accused Musk of enabling hatred on X by effectively allowing previously blocked accounts to reappear after suspensions. A notable example cited is the unblocking of white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who had been banned in July 2021.
According to the report, Netanyahu aims to assist Musk in addressing the mounting criticism directed at X for alleged incitement of anti-Semitic rhetoric. Details of the proposed discussion and outcomes were not disclosed.
The publication adds that the meeting between Netanyahu and Musk was organized with the involvement of Jewish business leaders in Silicon Valley. Among those coordinating the event was Joe Lonsdale, founder of Palantir, who helped facilitate the arrangement.
Separately, Elon Musk has previously declined to respond to questions from a British journalist regarding Ukraine and Vladimir Putin.—
