Minecraft PC Update Warning and Recovery Tool Guidance

Mojang Studios has alerted Minecraft players about the risk of permanently losing virtual worlds when updating the PC edition through the Xbox app. The notice was shared by developers on the company’s X page.

To prevent potential crashes, Mojang recommends following several steps before updating. Users should open the Xbox app, go to the profile area, choose Support, and launch the Game Services Recovery Tool. Once these steps are completed, the game update can proceed. Running this tool updates game services to version 19.87.13001.0, which helps prevent errors that could cause worlds to be deleted.

The company clarifies that the issue does not affect Minecraft: Java Edition. It also urges players to back up their worlds regularly by exporting them to separate files to safeguard data against unforeseen events.

Minecraft is a widely played sandbox game created by Swedish programmer Markus Persson in 2009. Microsoft acquired Minecraft along with Mojang AB in 2014 for 2.5 billion dollars.

A previously released trailer for the game Armed Squirrel, which features a squirrel armed with a gun, is mentioned in historical materials.
