Minecraft Movie Leaks Confirm Jack Black as Steve and Film Details

Images from the upcoming Minecraft adaptation surfaced online, according to the portal DTF.

In the leaked visuals, actor and comedian Jack Black appears as Minecraft hero Steve. His look remains faithful to the game’s design, featuring a pickaxe, jeans, and a turquoise tee. The creeper, sheep, and bee featured in the film appear nearly identical to their game counterparts, though they sport pronounced fur that adds a cinematic heft.

These posters reportedly first appeared on 4chan and then circulated across social networks, including X. After some copies were pulled at the request of copyright owners, the authenticity of the materials was confirmed by the producers.

The film’s cast includes Jack Black alongside Jason Momoa. Filming is said to be complete, with the premiere scheduled for April 4, 2025. Beyond the live-action feature, an animated Minecraft series is also in development.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game where players mine resources, explore a boundless cubic world, and build to their heart’s content. It stands as one of the best-selling games of all time, with a release history dating back to 2011 and ported to nearly every platform—from personal computers and smartphones to consoles.

Earlier reports also noted the announcement of a dedicated Lego set inspired by Minecraft, created for adult enthusiasts who grew up with the game. (Citation: DTF portal)
