The DxOMark lab evaluated the MacBook Pro 14 equipped with the Apple M3 Pro chip and named it the top choice for display and audio among its class. The published results appear on the laboratory’s website.
During testing, DxOMark experts assessed the laptop’s screen, webcam, and speakers. The MacBook Pro 14 demonstrates an outstanding display with HDR video support, a wide color gamut, and very high brightness levels. Its screen also minimizes reflections in bright conditions, enhancing readability and viewing comfort.
The webcam achieved high marks for detail and low noise in well-lit environments. In video calls, the audio quality was strong in both directions. The built-in speakers delivered a broad sound stage with a sense of spatial audio, contributing to an immersive listening experience.
However, the tests identified a few drawbacks. In complex lighting or color scenarios, the camera’s color rendering appeared less natural, and mono audio recording reduced speech intelligibility. Some users may notice vocal strobing, which can degrade perceived sound quality.
According to the results, the MacBook Pro 14 with the M3 Pro chip ranked first overall with a score of 148, marginally higher than the previous generation by a single point. The device achieved a best-in-class 154 points for combined video and audio performance and 142 points for video calls.
Earlier reports noted that Apple had ended development on a proprietary 5G modem.
