IBM Scout Adviser Partners with Sevilla to Elevate Talent Scouting via AI

An American tech leader and a top Spanish football club have forged a strategic alliance to grant the club access to an AI powered Scout Adviser tool. The partnership was officially announced by the technology firm.

Scout Adviser runs on the IBM Watsonx platform and is built to automatically scout for promising players. The system relies on neural calculations that comb through large databases to assess candidates for the team.

Key data points include a player’s height, weight, sprint speed, goals, and minutes on the pitch, along with insights drawn from more than 200,000 matchmaking reports that help shape a well rounded profile.

IBM explains that Scout Adviser analyzes clues about the qualities most valued in football talent and then assembles candidate lists that match the club’s criteria.

Sevilla FC has a storied European record, currently leading the UEFA Europa League in all time wins with titles claimed in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020. The club also captured the UEFA Super Cup in 2006.

Earlier in its communications, IBM highlighted the potential risks posed by quantum computing to digital security, underscoring the importance of forward looking safeguards.
