Huawei has rejoined the ranks of the world’s top mobile chipset producers, climbing back into the global top five according to Counterpoint Research figures cited by The GizmoChina report.

Counterpoint Research’s Q3 2023 data shows Hisilicon, Huawei’s wholly owned chipset arm, holding about a 3% market share and ranking fifth. The update indicates Huawei is regaining ground after several years of reduced activity tied to U.S. sanctions that disrupted its wider mobile technology program.

Huawei’s renewed presence in the chipset leaders list is linked to its 2023 product lineup. The release of the Mate 60 flagship, powered by the Kirin 9000s processor and featuring 5G support, resonated strongly in the Chinese market and helped restore momentum for Huawei’s silicon strategy.

Among the other major players, Qualcomm continues to lead with roughly 40% of the market share, followed by Apple at about 31%. MediaTek holds around 15%, and Samsung accounts for roughly 7%. Huawei sits just behind this group, with Unisoc at about 2%, Google at 1%, and JLQ at around 0.1%. These figures illustrate a competitive landscape where the Chinese market is reasserting its influence alongside established global brands.

In related industry news, recent consumer tech discussions have debunked earlier myths about device safety and radioactivity, underscoring a broader shift toward evidence-based evaluations in technology products.
