Group-IB Highlights New Scam Sites Targeting Pharma Buyers in North America

In March 2023, researchers from Group-IB identified a string of scam websites that advertised expensive diabetes medications along with other drugs. Evgeny Egorov, Principal Analyst in Group-IB’s Digital Hedging Department, flagged the findings to the publication socialbites.ca. He noted that the sites registered their domains mid-month and offered no verifiable information about their suppliers. Shady operators pressed visitors to enter bank card details and place prepaid orders for drugs with delivery promises. Victims could lose money and also expose their payment data to attackers. The networks in question had already been shut down, yet scammers typically launch fresh sites soon after with similar tactics, as observed by investigators.
