The DxOMark lab tested the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s autonomy, comparing it with last year’s flagship and with its major competitor, the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The results showed a surprising drop in endurance for the new model, especially when social media usage is part of the daily routine.
In real-world scenarios governed by social networks, the Galaxy S24 Ultra lasted seven hours and forty-five minutes. For context, the former flagship surpassed the 15 Pro Max by a wide margin, with the S23 Ultra reaching about fifteen hours and a half, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max approaching sixteen hours. The testers noted that using GPS navigation also shortened running time, but the gap between the previous Samsung model and the Apple device remained relatively modest in that specific test.
When it came to camera performance, the Galaxy S24 Ultra held its ground against the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, in overall autonomy scoring, the new device earned a total of 130 points and ranked fifty-first. This placed it behind the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which scored 142 points and sat twelfth, and behind the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which earned 134 points and ranked thirty-second. The leader in this segment, at the time, was the Honor Magic6 Pro with a score of 157 points.
Charging behavior also drew attention. The Galaxy S24 Ultra can be fully charged via a wired connection in about one hour and twenty-seven minutes, while a complete wireless recharge takes roughly two hours and nine minutes. These charging figures highlight a clear contrast with some competing devices and underscore the importance of charger technology and battery optimization in delivering a faster, more convenient user experience.
