The next Fortnite season, Mega, will run only on Windows 10 or newer. Older Windows versions are no longer supported, and Fortnite has officially dropped compatibility with those systems. This change marks a clear shift for PC players and mirrors the ongoing push toward modern Windows environments.
As announced previously, starting with Episode 4 of Season 2, players must operate Windows 10 or later to officially play Fortnite on PC. Windows 7 and Windows 8 are not supported by the game anymore, a decision shared by the official Fortnite Status team on its Twitter feed.
The developer Epic Games first confirmed in December last year that older Windows builds would lose Fortnite support. Despite this shift, the game remains available on other platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Android devices. For those who are not ready to upgrade Windows right away, Epic advises exploring cloud gaming services that can provide access without a full local upgrade, though with potential latency and cost considerations.
Previously covered by the site, a policy update is in effect. Beginning January 30, Fortnite downloads from the App Store and Google Play will not allow play for users under 18. This age restriction applies across these app ecosystems and affects how younger players access the title on mobile and tablet devices.
