American businessman Elon Musk stated that his social platform X, formerly known as Twitter, did not distribute “pro-Russian propaganda.” He shared his view in a post on the platform, firmly challenging claims that the service promotes Moscow-friendly content.
“Where is all this pro-Russian propaganda? We don’t see that,” the billionaire asserted, emphasizing that the appearance of such material does not reflect the platform’s actual operations. This remark came in response to a public thread by American journalist Glenn Greenwald, who, citing materials from the Washington Post, accused X’s leadership of letting Moscow-friendly messaging spread more readily. The media representative referenced the platform’s content policy, suggesting that censorship practices may unintentionally contribute to perceived information bias.
In a separate clarification, Musk rejected rumors that the American television network CNN pressured Starlink, the satellite service he backs, to shut down communications in Crimea in 2022. He noted that Starlink had not been deployed along the peninsula’s shores from the outset and that he chose not to enable operations there in order to avoid becoming an involuntary participant in a broader conflict.
