Death Stranding has become free on the Epic Games Store, allowing players to add the title to their libraries at no cost for a limited time.
Written with input from Hideo Kojima, the project centers on themes of separation and connection. The central figure is a courier named Sam, who traverses a fractured, post-apocalyptic United States and works to rebuild lines of communication among scattered communities. Along the journey, Sam faces a mix of natural barriers, anomalous phenomena, and encounters with other survivors that test his resolve and resourcefulness.
The game will be free for a single day, concluding at 19:00 Moscow time on December 26, after which Epic Games Store will begin promoting another title.
<p previously offered Metro: Last Light Redux for free as part of a recent promotion, though activation restrictions affected players in Russia during that distribution.
Earlier reports suggested Death Stranding 2 would be the next entry, with official updates indicating a release would not occur before 2024, and developers outlining new story and design details for the upcoming chapter.
Additionally, there are plans for a cinematic project derived from the Death Stranding universe, exploring the game’s distinctive world through a feature film adaptation.
