Center for AI Transformation of the Moscow Region to Open in Russia
Sberbank and the Moscow Region government will inaugurate the first Center for AI Transformation in the region. The center will operate within the framework of the Ministry of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Moscow Region and is announced by the bank’s press service.
Sberbank notes that several joint pilot projects already underway in the Moscow region use artificial intelligence to monitor air quality, forests, and other socially important spheres. The early results show strong performance and high internal ratings for these initiatives.
The District Center for Artificial Intelligence Transformation is expected to design, test, and deploy AI driven solutions aimed at addressing practical and social challenges across the Moscow region.
German Gref, chair of Sberbank’s board, highlighted extensive collaboration with the Moscow Region. The bank has shared its experience in shaping an organizational framework that integrates artificial intelligence technologies into the operations of departments at all levels.
Gref emphasized that the Moscow Region leads among Russia’s federal subjects in adopting modern technologies to support public administration, regulatory oversight, and sectoral tasks carried out by relevant ministries.
He expressed confidence that the Center for AI Transformation in the Moscow Region will serve as a model for other organizations and mark the start of large scale AI adoption nationwide.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov stressed that digital transformation leadership is a core priority for the region. Six AI based projects have already been successfully delivered locally. For instance, the Svetlana robot registers residents for medical appointments, and the Dobrodel system promptly directs requests to the right recipient, according to the governor.
Vorobyov described the near term plans to task artificial intelligence with additional responsibilities by year end. These include verifying apartment conditions, monitoring road infrastructure, interpreting medical images, developing smart public transport programs, ensuring rail safety, and supervising the disposal of construction waste. The governor underscored the aim to accelerate AI integration across regional services to improve efficiency and safety for residents.
The initiative aligns with broader regional ambitions to harness AI for governance and public services, enabling faster decision making, better resource allocation, and proactive problem solving in everyday life. The collaboration reflects a growing trend toward embedding intelligent technologies in government operations and community services. (Source: Sberbank press service)”
