BeOnd, the premium Maldivian airline, is introducing Apple Vision Pro headsets for in-flight entertainment. The initiative will be piloted on BeOnd flights, according to a formal update on the company’s site.
BeOnd chief executive officer Tero Taskila stated that Apple Vision Pro is set to transform how passengers experience entertainment at cruising altitude, with BeOnd aiming to be among the first to offer this technology to its elite travelers.
In addition to broadening the range of onboard content, the BeOnd leadership envisions the headset as a gateway for travelers to explore the Maldives virtually before stepping off the plane. The plan also includes developing immersive resort and attraction tours in partnership with local and international operators, giving guests a preview of island experiences while in transit.
The BeOnd program is scheduled to commence on Maldives routes in July 2024. At this time, no official timetable has been released for potential later expansions or broader fleet coverage.
Apple Vision Pro, unveiled at WWDC 2023, entered the consumer market in the United States on February 2 at a price point around 3.5 thousand dollars. Pricing in other markets varies, with local variants offered in some regions.
Earlier reports have suggested that the iPhone SE 4 could launch in 2025 with an OLED display, though these details remain speculative and await official confirmation. [BeOnd press materials]
