Battlefield 2042 has moved beyond its rocky launch and begun to show real signs of life. After several updates and a shift in format, the large-scale battlefield title has posted meaningful engagement on PC, with daily Steam averages hovering near 90 thousand players. In recent days, Valve data indicates the peak daily active audience surpassed 102 thousand players, approaching the launch-era peak of 105,397 players. While promotions and free play weekends likely helped, the data indicates most players chose to keep playing.

An average of 90 thousand players and counting

Even if the player count eases in the coming months, the current stability reflects the improvements implemented by developer DICE. SteamDB charts corroborate this trend. Through 2022, the game rarely exceeded 4,000 players on average per day. At the start of 2023, average daily players rose to 20,000. A notable rise began around September 28 of this year when EA introduced EA Anticheat, a kernel-level anti-cheat solution designed to enhance protection against cheaters and improve overall integrity.

Among Steam’s top sellers

Today the title sits among Steam’s top ten selling games. In its ongoing iteration, the game is in Season 6, and the update overview highlights significant additions and changes. These include a 24/7 Conquest and Advance playlist, revised modes, a new map called Censored, new firearms such as the G428, L9CZ, and VHX D3, new gadgets like medical and ammo pouches, a new vehicle named YUV-2 Pondhawk, and a Battle Pass featuring fresh cosmetic items for Specialists, weapons, vehicles, and more.
