At the Army-2023 forum, medical professionals showcased augmented reality support in surgical procedures, according to updates from DEA News on the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The report notes that this technology can assist during the removal of foreign objects from the body.

Officials explained that surgeons from the Military Medical Academy named after SM. Kirov demonstrated how augmented reality tools were used to extract foreign bodies within the clinic of the Naval Surgery Department. The Ministry of Defense stated that the process begins with a computed tomography scan, which is used to generate a detailed 3D model connected to the patient through specialized software.

With this setup, surgeons gain real-time insight into structures and objects buried deep inside tissues, enabling procedures with minimal tissue disruption and highly precise intervention. The ministry also highlighted prior demonstrations by doctors from the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital, who presented a prototype device at Army-2023 capable of removing metal fragments from brain tissue using electromagnetic principles.

Previously, Russia announced the development of a new system designed to suppress drone activity, reflecting ongoing advances in military medical and defensive technologies.
