Apple iPhone Maintains Monetary Market Lead in Russia Amid Supply Restrictions

Reports from the MTS press service, carried by the newspaper News, indicate that Apple’s iPhone continues to dominate monetary sales in the smartphone category. Even though Apple halted official deliveries to Russia and the total unit sales declined, the brand maintained a strong financial footprint in the market.

According to industry insiders, Apple increased its share of the overall smartphone market by five percentage points in terms of revenue, reaching 29 percent. This rise in monetary terms reflects that iPhone devices still command a sizable portion of consumer spending despite restricted official supply lines.

Notably, during the January to September 2023 period, Apple reported revenue from product sales in Russia that matched the level seen in the same interval a year earlier. This shows that revenue stability persisted even with the suspension of official imports, suggesting continued consumer demand and the presence of alternative channels for device access in the market.

On the other hand, the volume of iPhone sales in the first three quarters of 2023 declined from 11 percent to 9 percent. Analysts attribute this drop to a heightened preference for Chinese brands among local consumers, signaling a shifting competitive landscape in the mid to high end segment of the market.

There has been prior coverage about the budget iPhone SE 4 and its anticipated features, including a camera system aligned with the capabilities of earlier iPhone lines and a design that integrates Face ID compatibility. The SE 4 is expected to come with a processor that delivers strong performance alongside improved energy efficiency, similarities that align with the hardware found in the base iPhone 15 models. Market watchers are watching closely to see how these updates will influence the entry-level and mid-range segments going forward.
