AirPods Max Firmware Update 6A325: What’s New and How to Check

Apple rolled out a fresh firmware update for its premium AirPods Max on April 2, 2024, according to a report from MacRumors. The update carries build number 6A325, a tiny step from the prior January release, which was 6A324.

In typical Apple fashion, the company does not publicly enumerate the features included in new firmware. MacRumors notes that the changes can only be speculated upon, though the stated goal of this update is to fix unresolved bugs and improve overall stability for AirPods Max users.

Apple also does not publish detailed step-by-step update instructions for AirPods Max. MacRumors explains that the firmware is usually installed over the air when AirPods Max are paired with an iPhone or Mac, making the process largely seamless for most users.

To verify the new firmware on an iPhone, users can open Settings, tap General, select About, and check the AirPods line under the software version to confirm the update is present.

There are reports suggesting Apple is preparing to introduce a new line of Beats headphones in the near future, signaling a broader expansion of its audio lineup.
