Well-known smartphone accessories manufacturer OtterBox introduced iPhone cases made of prickly pear cactus fabric. In this respect reports MacRumor’s publication.
The name of the new series is Symmetry. They have a rigid polymer frame with reinforced corners and protrusions around the camera and display unit for additional protection against drops and scratches. The surface of the accessories is covered with a soft leather-textured material made from prickly pear slices.
OtterBox says cactus leather requires less land, water and other natural resources to produce than traditional leather. Only ripe prickly pear pads are used to make covers, which allows you to collect raw materials without damaging the plant.
MacRumors personally tested the new OtterBox cases at CES 2024 in Las Vegas and concluded that the new material is better than Apple’s FineWoven leather alternative.
OtterBox accessories from the Symmetry series will be available in spring 2024 at a price of $ 60 (about 5.5 thousand rubles at the exchange rate of January 10, 2024).
